area AF with superimposed focusing points, 3 AF modes, 12 shooting
modes, automatic and enhanced exposure controls, highly adaptive

The EOS Digital Rebel is compatible with more than 50 Canon EF-series lenses including the new EF-S lenses. The advanced AF system's 7 focusing points are conveniently superimposed on the viewfinder, cover a wide area for superb precision, and are manually selectable for a high degree of control. Ideal focus is achieved whether camera orientation is vertical or horizontal, with moving, still or off-center subjects, and even in low light/low contrast situations.

This camera is probably the most fundamentally important step for digital SLR's since the introduction of the Nikon D1. It will place digital SLR's into the hands of consumers (with a moderate budget) and will probably also have a very strong negative effect on the $1,000 prosumer digital camera market.
